  5. Torrentflux-b4rt SUPPORT file
  6. **********************************************************************/
  7. For support with your torrentflux-b4rt installation please see the
  8. torrentflux-b4rt forum:
  9. http://tf-b4rt.berlios.de/forum/
  10. Please take the time to search the forum first for a solution to your
  11. problem. If you still can't find the solution after searching, please
  12. leave a clear and concise subject/message:
  13. 1. Ensure the subject of your message takes the format:
  14. [torrentflux-b4rt-VersionXXX] Description
  15. where:
  16. VersionXXX is the version of torrentflux-b4rt you are
  17. running
  18. - ie 1.0-alpha7.
  19. and
  20. Description gives a concise description of your problem.
  21. A message with a subject of 'HELP!!!' is NOT a good subject
  22. and is likely to be ignored.
  23. For example, a good subject for a message would be something
  24. like:
  25. [torrentflux-b4rt-alpha7] Transfers fail to start when template
  26. caching enabled
  27. 2. Ensure the content of your message describes:
  28. a. Your working environment if relevant
  29. - ie OS, PHP/DB/Python/etc
  30. (if in doubt, always include this info!)
  31. b. A clear and concise description of what the problem is, what
  32. you did to see the problem and any additional info that you
  33. think might be relevant to helping us help you fix the
  34. problem.
  35. IMPORTANT:
  36. ==========
  37. Most useful of all are the torrentflux-b4rt logfiles for
  38. troubleshooting. Always check these logfiles first and
  39. ALWAYS post the relevant info from them when posting on the
  40. forum!:
  41. - transfer logfiles - click on the logfile icon in the
  42. transfer list to view the transfer logfiles
  43. - fluxd logfiles - the fluxd logs are located in the
  44. Administration section for fluxd, one for fluxd general
  45. messages and one for fluxd errors. Check both of these
  46. when troubleshooting fluxd problems.
  47. c. What steps can be taken to reproduce the problem - this is
  48. useful to help others test your problem out.
  49. d. A suggested fix for the problem if you think this is a bug -
  50. these kind of posts are always welcome!!!
  51. Please be very careful however before labelling something a
  52. 'bug' before you are absolutely positive it is!
  53. 3. This is probably one of the most obvious important factors when
  54. asking a question on a technical forum but is surprisingly
  55. overlooked very often:
  56. MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY ASK A QUESTION!
  57. It's surprising how often people rock up on a forum with the
  58. intention of getting help, but they don't actually ask a
  59. question and only provide a load of information that leaves
  60. potential helpers thinking 'And.... the question is...?'!
  61. Also make sure you ask a question that doesn't just require a
  62. yes/no answer. Before you actually submit the post, use the
  63. 'Preview' feature to read over your message and check that any
  64. questions you ask won't be simple 'yes/no' answers (unless of
  65. course that's all you want!).
  66. Finally, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take the time to read the following
  67. document if you plan on asking a question on the forum. This is
  68. recommended reading for all levels of users who wish to get help on
  69. a technical forum:
